Designers have always played an important role in setting fashion trends. The Indian fashion designers have not only helped set trends in the country but also have had an influence on their fashion worldwide. Many Indian fashion designers are now well renowned as international designers. Let’s talk about the fashion designers and stylists who play a huge role in the Bollywood glamour industry which plays a huge role in setting trends.
1. Manish Malhotra
He is a model turned fashion designer. Honestly, he does not even need an introduction. Fashion in India and Manish Malhotra go hand in hand. One of the most popular designers among the masses because of his relatable styling which not only fits the demand of the reel life but also the real life.
Launched his couture labelled Manish Malhotra in 2005 and ever since then he has never looked back. His designs give us the idea of how much efforts go into styling an outfit which would help us to bring out our personality. Amalgamating the eastern and western styles effortlessly makes him the most renowned fashion designers of our time. He has recently started his makeup range under the label, Manish Malhotra.
2 Sabyasachi Mukherjee
He is the most favourite fashion designer and jewellery designer of brides all over the world. He started selling his designer merchandise since 1999 in the label Sabyasachi. His bohemian take on Indian textiles makes him of the outstanding designers of all times. Not to everyone's surprise, often described an “international designing with an Indian soul”.
His artistry is marked with vibrant colour palettes, embellishments and a fusion of styles. Having started a channel named Band Baaja Bride where we get to see his various artworks, he creates for individual brides and the bridegroom. He has styled the wedding outfits of the famous celebrity couples including Deepika-Ranveer, Virat-Anushka, Priyanka-Nick and we loved them.
3. Neeta Lulla
She is one of the most sought after designers. Her works came into limelight after she designed a costume for the famous movie Devdas, Jodha Akbar and Aiswarya Rai’s wedding. Since then she has designed a costume for over three hundred movies. She has been in the industry for over thirty years and her designs are famous all over the world.
4. Ritu Kumar
A Kolkata based fashion designer who is considered the oldest fashion designers in our country. She has received Padma Shri Award for her contribution in the field of fashion, designs and craftsmanship. From starting with a small business in Kolkata to launching her company Label in 2002 which had the highest turnover at that time than any other fashion outlet this woman surely inspires us to follow our passion.
Her designs are favourite among various Bollywood and international stars and celebrities including late Princess of Wales Diana. She sticks to natural fabrics and traditional designing and brings out the best of the Indian culture in her designing.
5. Tarun Tahilani
He is the co-founder of Ensemble, India’s first multi-designer boutique. He has also designed the interiors of many hotels. His signature style includes Italian pattern cutting and Indian craftsmanship mixed with modern technologies. He became one of the famous fashion designers to pave his way to Milan Fashion Week.
6. Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla
This famous duo has spent thirty years in the industry and their famous muses include Amitabh Bacchan to Beyonce. They have designed costumes for various Bollywood films. Their works involve European influenced tailoring with a touch inspired by Indian craftsmanship.

She is a perfect example of a girl next door making it big. She has four fashion labels under her name which caters to the different needs of the customers. She has styled the Duchess of Cambridge. 8. Masaba Gupta
She is the youngest among the lot and the daughter of the veteran actress Neena Gupta. She is quite influenced by her Indian-South African heritage which is reflected on her clothing line. She has mastered the art of Indo western designing which makes her stand out among all the designers.
