DELHI CRIME: WINNER OF INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARD
The 48th International Emmy Awards made the citizens of India enthralled in the pandemic by awarding the Best Drama Series to the crime drama 'DELHI CRIME'.
Ranking an 8.5 on IMDb, the crime drama is based on the Delhi gang-rape case of 2012. The drama trails the Delhi Police investigation in finding the criminals of the heinous crime.
Directed by Richie Mehta, it took him 6 years in researching for the series. The series span 6 days from the dates 16th December to 21st December.
Initially, Mehta had planned for a feature film but later on he realized that the content wouldn't fit in that length and turned into a series.
Starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Aakash Dahiya, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, the drama series had a total of 7 episodes has promised the viewers a season 2 with a different case.
The drama series has won a total of 4 awards the was the first Indian programme to win the International Emmy Award.
Upon receiving the award,
He said, “I dedicate this award to all the women who not just endure the violence that so many men inflict on them, but are then tasked to solve the problem. Finally, to the tireless mother, and her daughter. Not a day goes by when I don’t think about you both and what the world subjected you two to. And I hope none of us ever forget that.”
Richie Mehta wanted to dispel the myths regarding the crime with his drama series.
